Forge Alone is written and maintained independently — not by a review team, not by a content agency. Every tool on this site got picked because it came up while building something real, not from a sponsor list.
Nothing runs here on the strength of a press kit. Most reviews come from a tool actually being used on a real project long enough to know where it holds up and where it doesn't — which is why every review has a "where it doesn't" section, not just a features list. Occasionally a review starts from the tool's own documentation, pricing pages, and outside user reports instead of hands-on use — when that's the case, the review says so plainly, and gets revisited once hands-on testing catches up. Either way, if a tool isn't worth its cost for a solo builder specifically, that's what the review says, whether or not there's a commission attached to the link.
Alongside the tool reviews, the workspace guides cover the physical side of working alone: the desk, the lighting, the coffee, and gifts for people who work from home. These are buying guides rather than hands-on reviews. They recommend kinds of product and what to look for, and each one says so at the top. Where a specific item has been bought and used here, as with the hardware in the UGREEN NAS review or the sparkling water maker in the drink station guide, the page says that too.
Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning a purchase made through them may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That includes links to Amazon: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. That relationship never decides which tools get reviewed or what a review concludes — see the full disclosure for specifics.
